Michelle Bommarito is the Founder of Michelle Bommarito LLC. The
company was started in March 2001 after a long and adventurous journey.
Michelle has a B.S.A in Marketing Management with a Minor in Psychology from
the University of Michigan. Her career began in the hotel industry, as a Sales
and Marketing Representative/Manager.
Growing
up in an Italian family and having a family-owned Italian
Wholesale Market, however, it only seemed appropriate
that Michelle would have a passion for the
Culinary Arts. Ever since she was a small child, Michelle remembers being
in the kitchen, cooking, baking and learning family
recipes from her great grandmother,
grandparents and parents. It was inevitable for her to become a Chef.
She
decided to explore her culinary curiosity by registering
for a two-week bread making class in New York City.
When she went to register, she found
the class
had been extended to one month long, so she decided to take advantage
of the situation and stay in New York for the summer.
And
so the adventure began… Michelle found an apartment
and worked at the culinary school providing in-class
assistance to the Chef’s for various
hands-on courses. It was during that time Michelle found her true passion
and enrolled in The Institute of Culinary Education
(formerly Peter Kump’s
Cooking School).
The decision to becoming a chef was
priceless. Michelle embraced New York City with intense
excitement. She
absorbed each day with the passion
and
fresh eyes
of adventurer.
While attending culinary school and
working at the school, Michelle had the privilege of
also working at
the world- renowned Waldorf=Astoria
Hotel. Michelle’s
responsibilities included supporting the Executive Pastry Chef
with the preparation of recipes for cakes, fine pastries and plated
desserts.
In 1997, Michelle Bommarito became
accredited in Culinary and Pastry
Arts from The Institute of Culinary Education with a Blue Ribbon
Status.
In 1998, Michelle was hired as a freelance artist
by Martha Stewart Omni Media. Michelle developed, tested and
produced recipes used
in Living magazine and
on Martha Stewart television show. In April 2000, she had the privilege of
being a guest on Martha Stewart Living creating her incredible “Spring
Garden Cake.”
Michelle’s two-week Bread making trip to New York
City transformed into a four and a half year relocation and a change of
careers. With a repertoire
of recipes under her belt, Michelle decided to move back home to Michigan
to “blossom
where she was planted.”
Michelle Bommarito specializes in cake designs
that explore the imagination and excite the taste buds. Her focus is
on creating unique wedding and
celebration cakes that express her client’s ultimate dreams. Her
expertise, passion and vivacious personality all mix together creating
a one of kind experience.
Michelle offers her clients very personalized
attention, allowing them to explore and create alongside her during
the initial consultation.
The client is limited
only by their imagination.
After discussing the details of the event,
Michelle sketches out and designs options for the client’s
cake. The cake becomes a reflection of the colors, motif
and style of each event. It is this aspect of
her job that
Michelle finds
so invigorating and exciting. Seeing the cake go from a sketch on
paper to a three-dimensional final product is one of
the best parts of her
job.
Michelle Bommarito is first a Pastry Chef before being
recognized as a Wedding Cake Designer. Although the appearance
of the product
is
extremely important,
Michelle’s intentions are for an excellent tasting product.
Michelle only uses the finest ingredients and maintains the highest
standards of quality
unparalleled in their taste and freshness. She also offers her
clients fine pastries, petit fours and elegantly decorated sugar
cookies.
The most rewarding part of her business is seeing her
client’s
reaction as they lay their eyes on her creation for the first time. It
is the sparkle
in their eyes, and smiles on their faces that makes all the hard work worthwhile.
The distinctiveness and uniqueness of her designs and
cakes have been subject to numerous newspaper and magazine
articles
including, Detroit Free Press,
Martha Stewart Living, Oakland Style Magazine, Michigan Bride and Bride’s
Magazine. In May 2004, Michelle was invited to participate in a Bride’s
edition spotlighting 20 Wedding Cake Designers from around the country.
Michelle is not limited to designing and creating cakes.
Working in the Bake Shoppe, requires deep concentration
and focus, minimal talking and
not much
interaction with people. Coming from a Sales background Michelle had
a bit of trouble accepting this aspect of the business.
Michelle decided
to incorporate
her passion for cooking, her love of people and sharing by offering an
array of Culinary and Pastry Courses throughout the Detroit Metropolitan
area.
Michelle also enjoys teaching individual private “At Home Courses” right
in the comfort of your own home. Michelle will discuss your dietary needs
and create a menu designed specifically for your group.
It is the satisfaction
from her clients that keeps Michelle enthusiastic
about her work and drives her to continue to aim to please them.
Michelle
Bommarito is a true Pastry Chef. She loves her job and
loves to inspire others.
And so, the adventure continues on a daily basis…with
each new cake design, with each new client looking to
fullfil their idea of the “dream cake”,
and with each new class full of students eager to learn how to prepare “yummy” recipes.
If
you want to experience Michelle Bommarito, please contact her and
schedule a private consultation. She is waiting to inspire you,
to
make your dream
come alive and to take you on an adventure. Please join her.
